Life in Little Steps

Walking through change with lived experience, quiet reflection, and steady growth where footprints become pathways, and every step matters.

What I Write About

My blog, Life in Little Steps, is a space where I explore the twists, turns, surprises, and small victories that shape my life. Growing up with a lifelong disability has coloured my experiences, but it doesn’t define the whole story — life is bigger, messier, funnier, and more complicated than that. I write about the ups and downs, the everyday challenges, the unexpected joys, and the tiny steps that carry me forward. It’s a place for honesty, humour, and the real texture of a life lived one moment at a time.

Self Management

Practical self‑management guidance from someone who’s lived it and taught it. These pages offer clear, compassionate insight to help you take steady, manageable steps through everyday challenges.

Welcome to the beginning of Life in Little Steps.

Firstly this is a new home for a lot of my content created over many years, if your finding me again welcome back. If this is your first time with me let me say hello.

I’m Helen—a juggler of life in all its messy, glorious forms. I’ve been married, divorced, loved, hated, bullied, bereaved… all while living with a rare form of childhood arthritis, diagnosed when I was just two.

Life in Little Steps is exactly what it sounds like—my life, one step at a time. It’s also the name of the website I’m slowly building: a space for reflection, resilience, and gentle empowerment. I don’t have all the answers, but I hope that in sharing my experiences—my downfalls and my successes—it might spark a lightbulb for someone else.

However you found yourself here, whether by search, stumble, or synchronicity—you’re welcome. So, please make yourself comfortable, grab a cuppa, and say hello.
